Regulate yourself
Your calm does not fix everything, but your dysregulation usually makes safety harder.
Safe Space Lab
A practical skill module for creating emotional safety in conversations: calm presence, consent, validation, clear boundaries, cultural humility, repair, and trust-building micro-behaviors.
Emotional safety
Safe space is built through repeated signals: I will not mock you, rush you, use your vulnerability, erase your boundary, or make repair impossible.
Your calm does not fix everything, but your dysregulation usually makes safety harder.
You can have good intent and still need to care about the effect you had.
Do not use sarcasm, public correction, eye-rolls, or moral superiority as teaching tools.
Conversation container
Name whether this is support, feedback, problem-solving, listening, negotiation, or repair.
Ask if they want advice, reflection, silence, directness, or just witnessing.
Confidentiality, time, tone, no insults, no pressure, and the right to pause.
Safety breakers
Words to use
“What would feel useful right now: listening, questions, or help solving?”
“I can see why that affected you. I am here with you.”
“I want this to stay safe for both of us, so I need us to slow down.”
“I interrupted and made it about my view. Let me come back to what you were saying.”
